Noticed this on Facebook earlier, although he was 90, it's still sad to read about it. Apart from being a top, top player, he was quite a character with his show biz stories.

Sad news indeed!

He was in the Sky Arts show "The Art Of Drumming" I believe. He is definitely one of those people who, if you don't know his name, you'll have definitely have heard his playing! Astonishing back catalogue! RIP Hal!

Great quote from his family - " May he rest forever on 2 and 4 ".

His playing (and legendary start) on the song, 'Be my baby' by The Ronettes will always be a favourite of mine.

RIP Hal, one of the absolute greats.
