Exactly! All my status basses have been on the heavy side, obviously no neck dive but i was surprised that graphite / woven carbon can be actually heavier than wood

I've got a S2 6 string Classic Cocobolo over Mahogany with Graphite through neck which is on the heavy side (still around 5 kilo so not to bad for a 6) & a S1 6 Classic Swamp Ash with Graphite bolt on that only weight just under 4 kilo. However the S1 has some neck dive as the neck pulls down the light body. So yeah guess Graphite is probably just as heavy as the hardwoods. Sound great though!!

I loved the sound of Mark king's Status Empathy   5 string in the Guaranteed concert video, it had a nice low b sound and the tone was not plastic sounding at all.

I wonder if it's the way it's recorded on some gigs, the direct sound of a status can be plastic sounding but through a trace rig it brings out a nice powerful gutsy sound.

Never had that trouble with any of mine. Even the Kingbass sounds deep & growls (I use heavier string than most though). I find The mid boost can get close to the JD growl but My JD has a better woody mid range & growl (Probably as heavy as the S2 6 though!)

Yea i agree totally that the earlier Status basses like the Series 2000 sound great! As did the Empathy 5 string on the Guaranteed Live Video.

I have just placed an order for another Jaydee, another Series 3 but this time in pearl mint green, maple stringers & saturn inlays... I might change the maple strings though to another darker wood because this blue bass that's coming looks so nice with the darker woods.

So this thread should stay alive for at least another 16 months :D

My order is now 6 months in, so a few months to go before I can post updates.

Congrats! Can we have some specs please? 9_9

Nothing too exotic; Series 3 profile Roadie Active with gold hardware and faux laminate finish like this. More than likely cherry.

Awesome! So the Roadie's also take 16 months to complete like the Series 1,2,3's?

I'll check with Andrew in the new year but the 16 months is more a reflection of the waiting time not the build time. If a Roadie has a slightly shorter build time then I might get lucky. Oh, I have corrected my earlier post; it's an Active not a 2.

That makes sense & great you got the active option! I'd be very interested to hear the difference of a bolt on to a set neck Jaydee, perhaps it gets even more punchy 9_9

Roadies aren't bolt-on same construction just without some of the binding. Everyone I've tried sound similar to My Series 2 even one that had the black covered pickups

Edit and no laminated neck

The bass arrived today! All i can say is, the weight is perfect as is the balance, excellent low action, amazing sound. The craftsmanship is probably the best i have ever experienced (and i have owned a few high end basses). Here's a few pics for now, i intent to get back with a video asap
