I think if anyone opens the parcel they’ll see it’s pink and quickly send it on

I hate to think how little it would be worth as fenced goods. Fifty quid? :(

At last I've been an explanation for the delay: because of the non existence of air travel atm, there aren't enough planes flying around to take the mail that usually hitches a lift. So the bass will still be sat in a queue in NY.

Which reminds me of Casablanca. All the bass guitars stuck waiting for a flight out of America go to Rick's every night to drink champagne cocktails, flog off diamond rings, and sing the Marseillaise.

I think in my heart I've actually given up on the idea that I'll ever see this bass. Which, if I think about it, makes no sense, I know that. But I made the initial decision to get it or something similar back in early September, and got the order placed a couple of weeks later, and that now seems such long time ago. Normally when you buy something, you hand over money and get the goods in return. This is feeling like something nice that you hope for ...might happen... might not... oh, it didn't ...never mind, chin up.... I think the lockdown must have got to me  😅 But I seem to have given up for now, and am simply expecting a refund sometime around the 1st anniversary of my placing the order.

I think I need a fresh set of Rotosound Swing Bass on my BB424 to cheer me up.

I think that's better than getting frustrated and annoyed so that it spoils the whole experience. I try to be Zen when I order something too and it must be really disappointing, but looking at it this way is probably more healthy. At the end of the day it's been made, it's out there and they have your address, and if it doesn't arrive or reaches you in other than perfect condition, you're covered.

You're more than welcome to adopt my SB1 for the interim!

That's very kind, but I wouldn't want to dilute the experience of its finally arriving .... and if it does indeed prove to have vanished (which, I'll grudgingly admit, isn't the likely outcome - yet) I'd rather not know what I've missed out on!

I can dig that. Well I look forward to the day when we can compare and I’ll end up wanting another!

I try to forget, but everything reminds me of my missing bass.....

I'd also offer to lend you mine but it is a long way from Mid-Wales.  Have got the location ready for the NBD  :)

What's that, Miami Blue with parchment pg?

Yes and brass hardware

Brass hardware is so 1970s, I was there when retrofitting was all the rage. Black crackle is the real deal. Accept no substitutes.

Hopefully you can forget the nightmare when it finally arrives.

When I ordered my Veillette Citron from the USA HMRC were sending it to and fro between two UK locations for about a week, then Royal Mail added their standing charge and delayed delivery further.

I was raging but have been able to put this behind me now (he says).

Every time I see a comment here I cross my fingers that it’s good news 😑

Good news would deserve a fresh thread, I think?

So sticking on this thread for the latest installment, an email from the long-suffering dealer: "....USPS has initiated an official inquiry with your postal service. They say it can take up to 32 working days to get a reply..... Here’s hoping shakes the package loose ...." Which is basically my hope: someone has parked the unhelpfully large parcel in a corner, hasn't yet got around to remembering about it, and would benefit from a gentle ahem in their ear.
