Well, this came as a bit of a shock, I have to say:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2019/mar/25/scott-walker-experimental-pop-hero-dies-aged-76

I always appreciated the fact that he just went ever further into the deep end as he got older - where a lot of artists would have fallen back on trying to recreate the vibe of some of their early hits to cash in on the nostalgia, his music just got stranger and more unsettling.

Fun fact relevant to this parish: he was also the bassist in the original Walker Brothers lineup.

His music for the soundtrack to The Childhood of a Leader is amazing and quite disturbing.   It totally absorbs you into the film from the very first frame of the opening credits.

A true legend of the music business. Been a big fan for a lot of years.

I'm the same as EliasMooseblaster, I loved the fact he kept pushing out into new territory as he got older.

I remember a friend giving me a copy of Tilt way back in the nineties and it blew me away.

Such sad, sad news. He was such a huge influence on me growing up. He's album Drift is incredible. His work with sunn o))) is brilliant. Mark Hollis now Scott Walker. Really sad.
