jorisj Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Hello, I am currently eying a 1967 Mustang Bass from Andy Baxter's shop, but I was wondering if 2500 pounds is a realistic price for a Vintage Mustang Bass or not? I have seen some go on this platform for 1200, but also for 2200. And the one on his site looks in very nice condition. FYI: I am based in Belgium, and vintage Mustang offering is quite limited here... joris Quote
burno70 Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I've not seen a vintage Mustang priced that highly before...but then again I've not seen one that old for sale either so it could be a fair price. If you like the bass but not the price why not contact the shop and haggle? You never know. 1 Quote
gareth Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Andys basses are retail prices i sold a 67 for £1200 two years ago i sense that the popularity of mustangs has increased, along with their prices since then 1 Quote
jorisj Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 Ok, many thanks! I’ll just wait for one to pop up here then. I can understand prices go up, but paying double in 2 years time is a bit much 😉 Quote
Sibob Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) It’s not really fair comparison. Basschat is all private sellers, Andy Baxter is a dealer, you would expect to pay more. ‘67 + two years instrument inflation from above private pricing + dealer pricing + custom colour = £2500 about right IMO Would it be cheaper privately, almost certainly, but you have to wait and know where to look Si Edited April 3, 2019 by Sibob 1 Quote
