A partial transcription (first 4 minutes or so) of the Robin Phillip's bass part to 'Light Up' from the Solstice album of the same name. Proper Prog.

I've never really listened to Solstice but that was really nice. I enjoyed that. Might look into them a bit more Rob.

I love this - a B-side that appeared as a bonus track on the re-releases of the 1982 Jon Anderson album 'Animation'. Some great playing here across the board but the recording is unclear on who plays bass on which tracks. I think the 'main' bass player on the recording was Italian Stefano Cerri but it also credits John Giblin (who played on the previous album, 'Song Of Seven') and Jack Bruce. I think this sounds like Bruce (and doesn't sound like the other two) but am open to challenge. This is the track 'Spider' (also referred to as 'The Spider' but I think that is wrong. But it doesn't matter as it is still a monster track).

PS even if you don't want the chart, listen to the track - through headphones. You'll thank me for it!

That's a hard one as most of it sounds more John Giblin but some specific parts sound very Jack Bruce.

In 82 Bruce had more of an attack in his playing altho he was a very adaptable player whereas Giblin had a more mellow sound.

Based on that i'd go with Giblin but i guess we'll never know for certain.

Great wee song, thoroughly enjoyed it. Good choice.

I've never heard of Stefano Cerri but maybe i should have listened to him before coming to a conclusion between Giblin and Bruce :laugh1:

Off to youtube him now.

Dave

Edit :- He's very good but has a slightly more aggressive style based on the various youtube clips i listened to compared to John Giblin. Always found Giblin to have quite a mellow, flowing style.
