Bizarrely, knowing a few people connected with Magnum, that's a completely opposite viewpoint than they all have, especially regarding Stanway!

Maybe they were having a bad day ?

We were just the helping hands rather than connected with the band so maybe that's the difference. ?

Can't fault Mark Stanway tho. He even offered to take us out to the local chippie for a treat before the Magnum gig.

It's all a matter of perspective. Multi Story, the prog band I recorded a track with for their CBF10 cd, they supported Magnum on the OASTN tour. They got on well with Stanway but didn't say much about the others either way. I have never met any of them.

I think my fav artists that i've met have been Phil Collins who bought us coffee and cakes, Phil Lynott who played pool with us and John Sloman when he was with Uriah Heep. He was also a very friendly guy and the one i forgot who also came over and sat with us in the lounge area for a few beers was Francis Dunnery from It Bites when they supported Robert Plant at Barrowlands in Glasgow.

'Dreamer' from the 2014 Hiromi Trio Project album, 'Alive'. Not 100% sure as there are some classic AJ 'what the f*** is he doing NOW' moments but most of it is safe. There are some heavy challenges with the read, though, as a lot of the chart is in weird time signatures which does odd things to the ties in Sibelius. Once you 'get it', though, it soon settles.

I am, Dave. I am happy with my Acoustic Image Clarus for my double bass set up but it wasn't doing it for me on the electric front, even with a PJB extension cab, so I just got myself a CMD151P (the Jeff Berlin model). I also got frustrated with my 5-string bass earlier this year (a Marleaux Consat, I think) so sold that on here and bought a Cort Rithmic 4. I now have a complete Jeff Berlin fan-boy set up (not because it is Jeff Berlin endorsed but because it works). I got the Markbass (w. an additional New York 151 extension speaker) off ebay - a total bargain and the seller was only 30 miles away from me! The Markbass set up is astonishing - I tried the combo years ago and thought 'I have got to get me one of these' and it has taken me this long. I will be selling some other kit to off-set the cost but, frankly, it was an absolute steal.

Nice one Rob.

I recently had a look at the Rithimic bass too. It gets great reviews. Also got a notion for an Xotic J4 but a bit more expensive.

Had the MB 121 combo and ext cab few yrs back. It was an odd thing but standing next to it i found it sounded weak but move out into FOH and it was right there and fitted really well into a 70's Glam cover band with guitar and keys. Having listened to Joe Dart a few times recently i sometimes think i want that MB sound he gets.

I think Allain Carron also moved over to MB too.

Look forward to hearing some sound demos and a full NBD review would be nice.

Have fun and enjoy.

I've got one of the early Xotic J4 basses - great bass! If you can pick one up for a decent price (and you can sometimes get them for a song), then do it. Certainly at least as good as the Japanese Sadowskys, but much better value.
