The trouble with this malarkey is that I keep revisiting old transcriptions and seeing errors/ways in which I could have put the chart together better. A full audit of 340 plus charts would talk 'kin weeks!! 😮

Another Jack Bruce transcription, this one is the tune 'Boston Ball Game 1967' from the 1969 'Songs For A Tailor' album. A one bar riff in 12:8 that goes up a fourth and then resolves with a bar of 3:4. Not hard to play but hard to interpret initially. Once you get the gist, however, it is simple enough.

A head chart for the tune 'Little Joy' from the 1993 Ellis Marsalis album, 'Whistle Stop'. The tune is a 12-bar Blues in C which is played by Robert Hurst in unison with saxophonist Branford Marsalis. A tricky little Be-Bop head composed by New Orleans saxophonist Nat Perrilliat

A head chart for the Alvin Batiste tune, 'Cochise' as recorded on the 1993 Ellis Marsalis album, 'Whistle Stop'. There is a treble clef and bass clef version of the melody and the concery key chords so you can play along if you are inclined!

A head chart for the Paul Chambers tune 'Ease It' from his album 'Go'. A live recording from 1959, the bass is not very well recorded so the bass solo peters out after 8 bars as I could not discern the notes, even with Transcribe software. The head is a great challenge though, so here you are.

A simple Jazz ballad today, this is the complete transcription of Paul Chambers's bass part to the tune 'Strong Man' from the Abbey Lincoln album, 'Abbey Lincoln and the Riverside Jazz Stars'. Not too challenging but there are a couple of bars that may need reviewing.

Another couple of tunes from the 2021 Solstice album, 'Sia', this is Robin Phillips's bass part for the tune 'A New Day'. An easy read but that's what I love about some of these charts; the learner reader can execute a competent performance of a professional recording fairly early  on in their studies, thereby being encouraged to continue.

Thought that was a far better version on bass. Clearer and few additional fills. 

Really enjoyed that version too. Wasn't too sure who Jimmy Johnson was but when i finally got a glimpse of him i recognised him with his Alembic bass.

Another Jeff Berlin chart, this is the tune 'Johnny Joker' from the 2001 CD 'Taking Notes'. Great fun to play as the harmony moves in and out of key (so called 'outside' playing). Most of the chart is a walking bass line (straight quarter notes) but there is a solo that requires a bit more work.

They really are. I have been looking at a few AJ transcriptions and there are so many bear traps. He is a genius. A true innovator and barely ever a solo.

Another 'full album' collection, this is Jon Poole's bass parts for the whole Lifesigns album, 'Altitude'. Some really challenging sections but some less so. A great album that has one several Prog related awards over recent weeks. Individual tracks will be posted separately but I thought I would do the 'full album' first this time around
