HeavyJay
This just for people who are in cover bands: What is the most usual / obscure song that you play? Please state if it's in your usual set or whether you played it as a request. Ta. I'm in a 50s and 60s cover band and mine is No Depression by the Carter Family. The_D
We play anything from Wilson Picket to Metallica but I think the most obscure one we have played was the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs: Phenomenon. I hated it though cause they dont have a bass player so I just kinda grooved around in E. Also we used to play The Music: Take the long road but only one of my mates knew it and if he wasnt there it was just wasted.
Merton
We don't do obscure songs, as we're there to get the wedding crowd/party crowd on the dancefloor. We'd love to play Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Maiden) or Overture (early Def Leppard) but we'd never get paid at the end of the gig. Starvolt
We're not a cover band, but we needed to fill some time, so we did a few things. The Dr Who jam. Think crunchy distorted bass and a lot of whammy/pitch shifting on guitar. Sounded quite good IMO. But song wise, would probably be Blood Sugar by Pendulum. Gets all our mates pumped up and it's good fun to play.

Adrenochrome
Currently, Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benetar 'cos our girlie vocalist sings it really well. Previously it'd be Bored by Deftones, Replica by Fear Fatory or possibly Will You? by Hazel O'Connor.

lemmywinks
We got asked to play War Pigs halfway through a posh wedding once, if they'd have given us notice it would've been in the bag. Been on at the lads for ages to do that one as well (if only for Faith No More inspired overdriven bass silliness)
crez5150
Pamela by Toto...... obscure because we are a function band..... and most people don't know the song.... just a bit of fun for us really

We still do it .. We did Je T'aime a few gigs ago after a heckle/request May try Inagadadavida on Saturday as keyboard Dave is playing the gig but I guess after it was on The Simpsons that may not count as obscure ... squire5
We like to do "I've been away" by the Who.It's in waltz time.Usually for when someone asks for a Who number and they're expecting 'my Generation' or suchlike. We usually do that next, just to keep them happy. BigRedX
In the 80s the synth band I was in use to do a cover of "Summer Wine" as a joke encore Here's the original: It was complete nightmare to play on mono synths, but the audience loved it. So much so that we eventually had to stop playing it because we attracted a following that only wanted to hear this song and would shout for it all through the set. Not what you want when rest of your set is dark and moody synth rock with heaps of distortion...

Musky
Well we're not a covers band, but we do a song called Stop, Look and Listen. It's an old 60's garage punk number - never released and recorded by a band that nobody knows the name of. So that's fairly obscure, but not particularly unusual. Jean-Luc Pickguard
Although we're called 'Obviously 5 believers' we're not a Dylan tribute band and usually do one or two Dylan songs each gig. One of my favourites is "tell me momma" from the "judas" era '65/'66 tour and until fairly recently only available on bootlegs from that tour (afaik).
