It looks OK if you're a Misissippi river boat gambler! 😃

Black white black or 3 plys of black?

B/W/B .

I actually have a bit of a thing for single ply scratchplates but the white middle of a b/w/b makes the scratchplate stand out nicely against the black lower bout and horn of a sunburst.

Unfortunately the options provided in the OP are wrong and not quite so wrong 😁

Hrm, I do have an interest in this, because at xmas, I bought a (left handed) Bass Collection 'Jive' (Jazz), for m'lado (lefty only available in old man 'burst with old man white scratchplate).

So I was thinking - solid black or BWB might modernise the thing, a bit... plus a paintjob would be better...

Anyhoo, it's nice to hear from somebody who's right!

That's fine, you old fool - except you're in the 1890s, and the Jazz wasn't invented 'til 1960. 😃

Never ever, under any circumstance should a pearl scratchplate be fitted to anything other than a Hofner.

Probably agree, although I have seen a Stingray sporting a pearl plate which looked pretty good.

My mm Sterling has a jiz spangled plate🙄

(I say tort, but it’s predictable)....

Tort for PM.

Don't like black basses so my view on that is irrelevant.  The only exception is all black (body and scratchplate) with maple neck.  That's the only time I like black basses.

Peace
