Forget the cheesy poppy MSM stuff though and check out Gloria’s album from whence this particular tune came - Mi Tierra. Just wonderful stuff if you like more authentic Latin American vibes. One of my favourite albums (still). Chock full of great musicians, including a few Latin heavy weight names. The arrangements are terrific as well. 👍 Quote

Jazzmaster62 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I think people are getting confused with good musicians vs good rhythm sections. 1 Quote

ezbass Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I forgot to add Copeland/Sumner, especially the first two albums. Quote

It's not an exclusive club 😀 My point exactly. Although he did play bass on some of their great stuff, Keith and Charlie have always been the foundation of the band’s trademark sound. Without either I don’t think the band could function. This is not meant to disrespect Bill Wyman or Darryl Jones in any way, both fantastic players 🙂 1 Quote

stewblack Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Very good point about the rhythm section not being confined to us and the tub thumpers. I always play well with one of my fave drumming buddies, by well I mean I play less because I'm playing with him and it's what we're doing together that benefits the band. However I also have another friend, a rare gem who is a rhythm guitarist through and through. Sure he can solo but get this - he doesn't want to! He loves locking down the rhythm and when the three of us are together my oh my. It's a powerful engine. 2 Quote
