EskimoBassist
Hey, Well I am sick of playing through atrocious amplification and so I think I should just stop complaining about it and get something done! Basically, please could you give me some advice as to a suitable Amp for me to buy. Because of travelling etc I would think a Combo would probably do me better, although the idea of a nice 4x10 and Head sounds great to me. I play Alternative/Rock music in a fairly regularly gigging band, so I need something that can stand up to playing Pub/Small club gigs and rehersals, and perhaps even some recording. It is ESSENTIAL that it has an XLR D.I. send, a reasonable EQ and if possible a built in compressor. No built in sh*tty digital effects please! I've got a pedalboard for all that . And I really don't need CD in or a built in tuner either! I was hoping for something in the 2x10 area, although I won't turn my nose up at a decent 1x15, and of course compatibility for an extension cab would be lovely. I am willing to spend up to £500. So of course I've thought about getting a decent second hand Trace, either the new Ashdown MAG or ABM or even one of the Ampeg combos the BA115HP (cvan get a new one for about £350) and the BA115HPT look quite tastey. It would be nice to have a valve preamp. Any advice would be fantastic! Thanks, Rich

lateralus462
How about an Ashdown ABM 2 x 10 - they're great and you could pick one up new for that sort of money - or if you can find one secondhand you'd probably be left with enough cash for a nice extension cab as well. stingrayfan
I recently bought Rayman's old Trace 1x15 300w. It's not light but I haven't used my 4x10 since. It's got more than enough welly for most gigs, sounds great and takes up less room in the car. You can get a 300w one for around £200. Edit: one just gone up on the board here. xgsjx
Markbass combos get my vote due to being light, loud & sounding great. There's a couple of 3x10 combos on here but I believe you can't use an ext cab as it's already 6 ohms. The 2x10 that I have is a great option, but I haven't seen any s/h lately.
