Also: personally I like a wildly inappropriate cover version,  so anything girls aloud or kylie stuck through a p-funk metal blender would be my suggestion... probably not helpful if your singer is all 'popular = crap'..

Here's our one and only cover, recorded on a mobile phone at our 3rd gig... Next gig is in Hereford, June 6th, at Speakeasy,then at Funk In The Forest near Welshpool July 26th.

How about something from Band of Gypsys? It covers the rock, funk and (of course) Hendrix. Plenty of scope to play around with it to please the hardcore element.

Gimme Gimme Gimme by ABBA, approximately as reworked by Yngyngwyngy Malmsteen - I can't remember the name of the band that we nicked the version from but it was similar to that one.
