stewblack Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Hey guys / gals , I guess we're all familiar with buzzy guitars that stop buzzing when we touch the strings. But what do you make of a bass which buzzes quietly all the time bit most loudly when I touch the strings? Quote
Reggaebass Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 There’s a thread on talkbass about this very problem, the main answers are , the ground wire from electronics to the bridge 🙂 1 Quote

I assumed if it was that the buzz would stop when I touched a metal part. is this not so? Quote

That's normally what happens if the problem is the ground wire. Assuming it happens with every amp (if it doesn't, that would suggest an issue with yours) I'd look at the screening in the instrument. 1 Quote

Twincam Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Is the cavity shielded in any form? If so this also needs to be grounded. Else you can act like an antenna. So ground wire from cavity to where the bridge wire connects. As demonstrated recently after I fitted a pre amp to a basschat members bass. Loud buzz even when bridge was grounded. So extra ground from cavity fitted. Quote
