Anyone with experience in using contact core strings on a bass with piezo bridge saddles? Will it work , or do ordinary wound strings work better?

I've not used GHS contact core strings with a piezo but I have a tapered B string which works fine with my piezo bridge. The piezo picks up vibrations from the string and will work fine whether they're regular or tapered.

On my Fishman piezo bridge the instruction was to make sure there is no silk winding around the string touching the bridge. I use La Bella flats which have no silk windings so I’m pretty sure the core wire would be fine. Whether or not it’s better may be for you to test.

Just a left-field piece of rationalisation;

Piezo bridges and saddles work ok with everything from unwound (G,B, high E) guitar strings up to EUBs.

I reckon you're probably safe with contact core designs.

I think it should be fine - though I suppose some brands might be better than others?

Please do let us know how you get on :)

Yep! ;)
