Because it doesn't really matter.

It would definitely matter if ever he needed to take it or sell it abroad due to CITES regulations on rosewood.

I’m not so sure Cites is pertinent as far as the age of this bass is meant to be....contacting Shecter with the serial number might work. I recently sent a pic of some real old rosewood I had to a luthier supplier and he said it’s not possible to ascertain exactly what wood it is unless he has it in his hands and even then it may not be possible to exactly say what and where it came from.

I have a full rosewood neck which looks similar. But I am in no way qualified to comment. I would like to see the body. It sounds like a very good looking combo. I am shallow enough to be a sucker for a good looking combination.

Hey, well, it is getting new frets and a new nut at the moment but I will post some pictures as  soon as it is finished and back with me.

Thanks for all the opinions so far!

Hey, I finally received it back from the luthier after the refreting. I was told by the luthier that it most likely is Pau Ferro but of course you can not be sure a 100%

It might matter if shipping or travelling. CITES and all that.

Edit: beaten to it!
