lowregisterhead Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 (edited) It's listed as 'For parts or not working'. "Woven carbon graphite and selected exotic woods are combined to create a bass which sounds even better than it looks. It has a wide, even frequency response with huge dynamics and sustain." Perhaps after you spend another grand on a full refurb. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Status-S2-Classic-Trace-Elliot-Custom-Electric-Bass-Guitar/293040183537 Edited May 20, 2019 by lowregisterhead Quote
ash Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 What a mess! Mine cost me £600 when I bought it a few years ago and it was near mint my headed graphite bass was £450. Quote
prowla Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 "As with all Status instruments, the graphite neck is fully adjustable to allow you to set the relief to suit your playing style." Erm, mine isn't... Quote
Bigwan Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Reduced to less than half its original price. Still overpriced! Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 If it's just cracked lacquer, rather than cracked wood, you can argue it's a unique instrument that has real collector value. Quote
Bassassin Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Doesn't look like it is, though - a lot of these marks look like the bass has been abused and battered - the cracking around the control area looks like it's the result of an impact, as do the big fractures on the back near the bases of top & bottom horns. Pretty confident there's wood damage there. In the unlikely event it's not been kicked half to death the only thing I can think of that would result in this sort of cracking would be use of inadequately seasoned wood, which over the years has expanded or contracted under what looks like very thick poly lacquer. Either way, it's enormously overpriced. Quote
AndyTravis Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Think Mark Gooday of Ashdown is selling this - it’s an ex promotional bass, bet it us some great stories along with it. still, I think it’d be better if Rob Green sorted it within reason before it sold. dunno. Bit of British bass history...in a way. Quote
Cuzzie Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 (edited) Yeah, this is annoying, I messaged a couple times when it was on reverb for some more info, but radio silence - poor show Edited May 26, 2019 by Cuzzie Quote

lowregisterhead Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 It sold. Didn't go well, apparently... https://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ashdown-amps&iid=293040183544&de=off&items=25&searchInterval=30&which=negative&interval=365&_trkparms=negative_365 Quote
WHUFC BASS Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I could be wrong but I remember this bass from it's days at Trace Elliot (I might have even played it). It was used for testing out repaired amps etc. It's didn't have the Trace Elliot paint job / sticker job at the time though. Quote
