ead
Does owning a vintage P bass count as my contribution to the overall wear and tear will have been limited?
ped
I think ‘Genuine Mojo’ refers to wear and tear created in real life as opposed to a ‘relic’ job
ead
Thanks Ped, I was just wondering whether my relatively short ownership of a 50-odd year old bass qaulifies
ped
Only if you can 100% guarantee it’s not a belt sander job 😂 1
prowla
My over-painted Ric shows some of the original fireglo finish, which is slightly worn and shows some of the wood. My 2nd Ric has a blob by the pickup surround where its previous owner used to rest his thumb, and the scars of some customisation work I did over the years. ...unfortunately its original tailpiece was sacrificed to fit a Badass.

Stingray5
Tokai Jazz Sound c.1981/2. I bought this as a fretted bass around 10 or so years ago and most of the mojo was already there. I had it converted to fretless by the chap at GuitarAvenue when I wanted to get a truss-rod issue sorted. Now has a nice Indian Rosewood board. Stub Mandrel
I reckon I've added some Genuine mojo to my Ibanez AS53 (sorry - 6 strings...) Before: After, with luminous green 80s DiMarzio Humbucker (originally fitted to my brother's first strat) and Gretsch bridge pickup removed from one of his guitars. The pickup cover on the DiMarzio and pickguard are 'modern'.
Stub Mandrel
P.S. Yes it does sound amazing now 🙂
TheGreek
When it comes to mojo, you'll be hard pushed to find somebody with more than the lead singer from The Doors. Mr Mojo Risin is actually an anagram of Jim Morrison
ezbass
Here’s a couple of photos of a ‘63 P bass I used to own.

police squad
Here's a picture of my Flea bass. In the two years that I gigged it, I have worn through the finish and around the edges of the reliced bit, the paint has worn thru to the primer. SO.......................a relic WITH genuine mojo!! My Flea bass is NOT mint. You work it out🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

prowla
I played one in a shop and was a bit underwhelmed, I have to say.

Some of the best basses and guitars I've played in a shop are totally different when I'm gigging them. I have to have them on the strap, at gig length and with the rest of the noise going. Only then can I tell if it works for me. I had a beautiful JayeDee Mark King. It was amazing. Absolutely useless to me on a gig. Completely wrong in every respect

Muzz
My Dingwall...I've had it nine years or so, probably 300+ gigs... Look at this...the horror, the horror... 😕😀
Doctor J
They tried to kill my BB1100S, but they needed to try harder. Yamahas are made from the hard stuff. Only the active/passive switch needed to be changed.

Brings back some nice memories as I did some recording in France many moons ago and was loaned one of these (with the extra pup) until I could bring my own bass over.
