Jimothey
I hung this build up next to my other corvettes and realised I've pink torpedoed it up!! 🤬🤬🤬 I've cut the neck pocket too long by about 30-40mm so the bridge would need to hang off the edge to get the scale length correct!! I measured the neck pocket off the original body which was longer than this one! If I try and piece in a bit of Oak its going to stand out a mile so I think this is going to need a pickguard to save the day!!
Jimothey
I'm thinking of doing a different style than on my refinish? I need some opinions please I'm thinking maybe a darkish wood Jazzman style? 👍🏻
Pea Turgh
Make a feature of the infill, like a load of different colour wood bits. Be a shame to cover that top with plastic.
Pea Turgh
Or put a mudbucker in?

Pea Turgh
What about the infill being the same wood as the fretboard, then “ski slope” the fretboard body end in to it (like it is at the headstock end).

Ooooohhhh thats a good idea that could work!! Its a rosewood fretboard that had been painted matt black before I got it so it would be easy to blend it in 👍🏻

Jimothey
I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd make a start on the pickguard/fretboard extension here's what I've come up with?....... I think @Pea Turghis right a ski-slope down from the end of the fretboard would probably be the best option but I do like the idea of a pickguard it makes it look slightly different? What does everyone else think?....... 👍🏻
MoonBassAlpha
I'm generally more of a fan of more wood showing and the controls routed from the back, especially on a body with nice generous round over on the front.

But like others have said, shame to cover that wood 😜

Jimothey
Update on the pink torpedo-up repair! Tried both ideas 1. Infill with oak (as expected it looked a badgers derrière!) 2. Ski-slope (just couldn't get it to look right!) Then a 3rd idea hit me what if I rout the top cap and infill with sapele? Please excuse the pic! 👍🏻 Edited January 5, 2021 by Jimothey
lemmywinks
Another idea might be a brass plate like a few manufacturers used to do, mainly to aid slapping on fretless but at least it would look like a deliberate addition rather than a cover up. Good enough for Wal: and Alembic:
