davegriffiths91 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) Alright Folks. So whilst I am in-between cruise contracts (Read - unemployed) I am looking to improve my YouTube portfolio to make myself more employable in the future for dep gigs etc. I'm looking for some inspiration/ideas for covers that show off ability but not just chops. Covers I have done so far include Master Blaster, Peg, Sir Duke, Never Too Much, Want You Back and a few others. So "standards" that have some sort of bass line that isn't root note bashing. Im thinking maybe doing some rock tunes just to show I can do that too, I just need something productive to fill my time between practicing, playing super smash brothers and going to the gym! What would you guys want to see and be looking for in these videos? Cheers! Edited June 4, 2019 by davegriffiths91 Quote
No lust in Jazz Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 You could consider a 'showreel' - if you've got any shareable videos of you playing live then cutting these together to show your skills off may be more marketable / palletable than - here's me playing 'Dean Town' or something. - Y'know showing how you present yourself on stage.
