Jim Bob Wilkenson Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Hello, Basschat UK! I'm from northern New York, USA. And, when I say northern NY, I mean as far north as you can get before crossing the Canadian border (in the corner of Vermont and NY). I've been playing bass for nearly three decades. I'm a HUGE fan of Ashdown, been playing the EB-180-12 since 2007. I've had other "rigs" in the meantime, but have always kept that amp. I seem to dislike everything I've played except the Ashdown! Unfortunately, Ashdown isn't as popular here in the states as they should be so, Basschat UK is the only place I can get any sort of real reviews...hopefully. Currently, I play with a country-, bluegrass-, funk-esque style band; however, my influences are all over the place from Duff McKagan, Oteil Burbridge, Keith Mosely, and (the late) Bobby Sheehan. I can't forget players from the Motown/Staxx era, either, though they are more of an indirect influence. Recently, I started paying attention to Wojtek Pilichowski and Paul Turner. Thanks y'all for the time to introduce myself. I look forward to rapping with everyone! Please! If any of you have suggestions as to whom to listen to and study...I'm all ears! 1 Quote
Telebass Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Welcome, Jim Bob! After a 17-year break, my amp choice, in 2003, was an EB15-150. Cracking amp. Paired it with a Mag 115 Deep, and that was a good rig, if slightly quiet for a raucous rock band. These days, I'm at the end of using a Markbass rig, because even that is too heavy for me now. The joys of aging! Quote
Jim Bob Wilkenson Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Thanks for the welcome! I was thinking about the RM 12, but haven’t seen any reviews. Quote
