PawelG Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Never heard of them before, no idea why. Superb playing, enjoy! 6 Quote
Doctor J Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Great band with a fine sense of humour, I’m looking forward to the new album. 2 Quote

ezbass Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Way too much talented for one band. Absolutely top musicians. Quote
fleabag Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Guthrie Govan has many many Youtube demos outside of the band. He's also played with many many musicians over the years https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J503OvHWKko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1-O-juptmY One of my faves is his demo on a Vigier fretless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yshLWYjMijo 1 Quote
stewblack Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Love it when Basschat introduces me to new music. Thank you @PawelG 1 Quote
Bassassin Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Fantastic band & enormously good fun live - do go & see them if you get the chance. Quote
fleabag Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Apart from Govan and Beller, Marco Minnemann is an absolute killer drummist. He's being doing demos for many many years and also played with a stack of other musicians Quote

There is a video of him playing "Wonderful Slippery Thing" with Mohini Dey and she is fantastic. I guess the "Mohini can't groove / plays too fast / has no soul" brigade missed this one. I love her tone in this video too, so much punch and clarity and a huge amount of bottom end. You can really feel how loud the bass was in the venue on that night, that is proper bass that you feel through your whole body. 1 Quote
b7l4s Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I went to school with Guthrie - albeit a year or two below him. He was insanely talented as a youngster and seemingly has just kept on studying and getting better. He won a competition in Guitarist magazine as a teenager, and at some point afterwards was given a job there. Love his videos as well - a completely natural teacher. 1 Quote
fretmeister Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 If you have Netflix - Guthrie is in the band for the Hans Zimmer "Live in Prague" show where they perform all Zimmer's big movie hit themes. Crank it up and let it wash over you! Quote

I haven’t seen it, but from I understand, the music could be the high point 😬 Depends if you're a lifelong Kaiju fan or not. Saw it last week, and (channeling my 7 year-old self) it was the best film I've ever seen, by some margin. Can't say I noticed the music overtly, but it did proper fan-service by incorporating signature themes of the various creatures. End title music was an incredibly bombastic cover of Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla, with vocals by Serj Tankian - don't know if Brian B was involved in that but wouldn't be surprised. Quote
Doctor J Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Waiting for the CD + DVD version to arrive from the US. For some reason, I couldn't order it from the European shop. Quote
GisserD Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Gutted. I had tickets to this but couldn't make it in the end 1 Quote
