Teebs Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Great idea for a thread! Fontella Bass - Rescue Me John Holt - Help Me Make it Through the Night. I only thought of these 'cos I'm playing them at the moment. Planning on learning the songs suggested above now 👍 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Just now, hiram.k.hackenbacker said: Are You Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz Are you gonna go my way is a great bass line, but it has a bass solo and several trills and very tricky timing at the end, I wouldn't really class it as a simple bass line at all. I thought we were discussing 1-3 note lines or repetitive patterns? 1 Quote

Lol, I just thought it fitted the OP criteria - agreed it can be a bit dirge-y unless covered by a really good singer (and likewise I used to nod off when playing it years ago in a covers band - same with "with or without you") but the original is a great and powerful song. Some really good examples in posts above, although some I wouldn't call all that simple 1 Quote
