no no no no not Zombie. :( When I started playing bass, many moons ago, we covered zombie and I hated playing it.

There are several songs here I hate playing but it is about simple lines.

Although it does look like people have a difficultly knowing the difference between 'simple lines' and 'lines I fine easy to play'  :D

I don't think it fits the criteria as I would fall asleep during it, thus brining the song to a halt, rather than driving it along. :D

Ok for that I won’t nominate “need your love so bad” as even a truck couldn’t drive that along!

Once In A Lifetime -- Talking Heads

+1.  I think this is my all time favourite bassline.  Two notes which straddles two keys seamlessly.  Amazingly efficient line.

Oh that reminds me, we were going to cover that one - it has a bad Sax solo in it, and we have a sax player who could do it perfectly!

Some excellent answers here. Another favourite of mine is Warhead by the UK Subs.

Oh yes, the only cover our band will do. Don’t play it often but it’s a treat for me when we do.

Tube Station/Eton Rifles by The Jam - in fact many too many Jam songs to list imo.

Simple?

I did think of "She sells sanctuary" but although the bass line is simple, I think it's more guitar-driven than bass-driven.

Not that simple, especially if you're singing as well.

My nomination is "Don't break my heart again" by Whitesnake.
