Express yourself has to be one of the most instantly recognisable basslines

and Real Rock riddim is probably the simplest and most well used reggae rythym around ..also a perfect example of how drums and bass should be one

Meshell 'Who is he and what is he to you'

Reactivating a zombie thread, but this has to meet the OP's criteria. Simple, quite repetitive, but this would be nothing without the bassline. That's my next transcription exercise sorted.

Ellen Foley - Night Out

Louie Louie by Motörhead. The original by Richard Berry having no real bass line, but an idea of what it should be. Simple and effective, just like Once in a Lifetime by The Talking Heads or Papa was a Rolling Stone by The Temptations, already mentioned.

If this hasn't already been suggested

On a more serious note, my band has just started to do this song. Never heard it before it was suggested. Not a fan of the artist but i really like playing it.

Hadn't heard or seen that before! Well worth the watch.

Saw Electric Six at Glasgow Green many years ago. They were fab. Once went on a camping site stag do, and on the first morning we were playing some songs on a ghetto blaster (remember them?) and Gay Bar came on. There were some kids there (under ten yrs I’d say) and they started jumping about and singing along. Their parents came running over and actually covered their ears saying “you mustn’t listen!” . It was hilarious and also extremely bizarre.
