Bought this brand new back in February for £3,199. Need yet more money for my house renovation so another has to go! Played only a small number of times, predominantly in the studio. 

Fantastic bass, I opted for it over a Pino CS (which I have also owned previously). 

It weighs 9b/4.0kg (according to the original listing with Bass Direct), however it feels lighter than this when playing it.

OHSC and case candy all included. Only mod I have made is sticking some Dunlop straplocks on it.

You sound wicked on that beast, flats or rounds?, and what are you running it through.... it's just about the perfect sound.

I’ve got rounds on, have preferred them over flats for a while now. 

And that’s just direct in played on Logic and using OBS to capture the sound.

Very nice indeed.... how wide is the neck at the nut? and why do you choose it over the Pino?

It’s 1.75” width at the nut and I chose it over the Pino as I couldn’t see the difference for an extra £300 when trying them both out in Bass Direct. I also think this bass has a more classic look for pop gigs etc.

Yeah it looks lush... I totally get yay as well £ 300.00 is a lot for a signature on the head stock. I was lucky enough to play Sean Hurley’s 1961 P Bass and it was killer

Great playing! Sounds lovely. What's the make of the round-wound strings you have on it, they do sound like flats. I'm interested in the bass as I was born in '61 and always wanted a year-of-birth Custom Precision.

Thanks a lot! I’m not actually sure what the strings are. They’re whatever Fender stick on their instruments as stock. I used to have a Pino CS with flats but I’m preferring the versatility of round-wounds on this bass. Tone is rolled off by about 75% and palm muting gives the flat-wound sound.

PS: I'm always wondering why most of CS '61 pbasses haven't got "pat pend" under the precision bass name. Those appeared in late 1960, so each 1961 P had it then...

This is because, I believe, Fender modified the writings on the headstock after 1962, so what's shown on this particular instrument is period-correct ...

They were changed but as I said before "pat pend" was added around October 1960, so if they do a '61 it should have it because every pbass from 61 had it in the past
