Someone posted this on twitter, thought I'd re-post here. Born this day in 1915.

His book " I Am The Blues : The Willie Dixon Story " is a good read .

Willie Dixon was hugely influential. The songs he wrote and records he produced formed the basic building blocks for a couple of generations of players of all instruments.

He was on many of the songs I played when I started learning bass. He was one the first bass players I listened to to get bass lines.

I've just checked - none in Manchester libraries. Christmas list, it is!

Ask them to order it and it'll be with you in a few weeks. Libraries regularly share books, it's why they're 100% amazing.

Last time I did this, cost a fiver, took a few weeks and I only had the book for less than 2 weeks (else fined!). A good service for rare books though.

i got my copy for a quid from a charity shop in Torquay.

The British Library has a single copy, shelfmark YM.1989.b.454. If I remember my shelfmarks correctly it should be available via Inter-Library Loan from Boston Spa.
