ianrendall Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Here’s my new baby soon to be shipped to me. #8554 Pelham Blue NYC Satin. 22 Quote
bubinga5 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Its all about THAT tone with a Sadowsky. Congrats. Quote
thodrik Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Congrats! I love that finish. A five string Sadowsky can cover pretty much anything. I love mine. Quote
ianrendall Posted July 3, 2019 Author Posted July 3, 2019 Thank you each. It took me MONTHS to decide on the colour. I very very nearly went for shoreline gold. But I wanted something that hadn’t been used on a satin before, but also something that looks ‘traditional’. As far as I know, this is the only satin in this colour. 9 hours ago, CameronJ said: It looks so svelte! It does! I think the jazz bodies are slightly smaller than normal. 1 Quote

ped Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Very nice - who are the dudes in the pic (I recognise Roger in the middle) Quote
fretmeister Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Very nice! I keep dropping hints to the wife so she can save up for my 50th birthday - I really fancy the Will Lee model. Can't see it happening though - my 50th will be roughly the time I'm having to find money for the kids to go to university. Quote

I just checked the Sadowsky site for the first time in ages (it looks so much better than before). There is now a 'staff' section: https://www.sadowsky.com/the-staff/ Quote
Musicman20 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Lovely bass! Congrats. Nice to see Sadowsky is still thriving. Quote
ianrendall Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) Thank you for all your likes. Much appreciated. Quick update. The bass will be with me tomorrow. Here are some numbers to help anyone else out with costings and import duty. The bass was $3199 USD, shipping was $144 USD. The tax bill, which I received electronically while the FedEx jet is actually still in the air halfway across the Atlantic (flight no. FX36, MD-11F Indiana to Stansted) came to £277 GBP which is a lot less than the £600 GBP that I had somehow arrived at. Expect pictures of the bass in several pieces soon as the UK handlers inevitably play cricket with it. Edited July 10, 2019 by ianrendall I made an spelling errors. 1 Quote
gareth Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Lovely bass Ian! Roger and all at Sadowsky know how to deliver great customer service. I have had various used Sados and they are always so willing to provide history details including original specs, etc Enjoy your bass Quote
ped Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Thanks for the flight number, now I know which luggage carousel to wait by 2 Quote

I think I know why my import bill was so much lower than it should have been. The Sadowsky invoice that customs would have looked over was $2000 short! A 1 instead of a 3! Lucky mistake or deliberate middle finger to ‘the Man’? 1 Quote
