NancyJohnson
Gibson 20/20 on eBay. Milton Keynes. At £1.2K, too rich for me... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-Gibson-20-20-bass-guitar-make-me-an-offer/254288675631?hash=item3b34c9432f:g:V04AAOSwOwJdIdlP Edited July 8, 2019 by NancyJohnson Because 'to' is not too or two for that matter... oldslapper
Place bid or make an offer? Maybe someone could offer to finish building the bass? 🤪 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course. 😊
NancyJohnson
I found one in Australia a while back that was in better shape for around half the price. That said, the shipping, duties etc. made any purchase prohibitive. £1.2K is still way too high. 50% of that.
Delberthot
It's how I imagine a bass to look if a Lego person made it. I've honestly never seen one of these before but am strangely drawn to it
BigRedX
I believe the seller is the person who does the Fly Guitars Gibson and Epiphone bass resource pages. IIRC he's also a Basschat member

ash
It is the same person as Fly Guitars he bought an old Epiphone off me years ago - decent chap - the pricing of this bass seems a tad ambitious but good luck to him, it’s a rare thing but definitely the Corvus of the Gibson bass world 😉
Newfoundfreedom
Why? Just............. Why? No criticism of the seller, I just can't understand why Gibson would build it or anyone would buy it. No accounting for personal taste of course.

Well, I guess when these originally dropped (1987/88) the musical landscape was somewhat different to how it is now and by way of small credit to Gibson, they were trying to do something different. Conservative estimates have actual production numbers as 'under 50', so it hardly set the world on fire.

When my dad retired I tried to persuade him in investing in some vintage Gibson and Fenders with his lump sum. Some 30 years on, sure had you bought wisely, you could have seen your investment triple ir quadruple in value.

Price reflects rarity I think; although there's little love of Gibson basses on BC there's still quite a bit elsewhere - especially for some of the '80's rarities like this and Flying V basses. Personally not my thing at all, but if this was at Andy Baxters it'd be going for considerably more the eBay price.
Bassmonkey
Well I love Gibson’s. This one though would be harder to love than most I reckon. (Still have it though)
