dangerboy Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) I floated this in a thread in 'Items Wanted' and got a few nibbles but no serious bites. So let's see if anyone wants it. An Ovation Magnum II active bass. It is in lovely shape, with the foam in the mutes and everything, and has had the following modifications from original by a previous owner: 1 slider pot (treble) has been replaced with a rotary pot. An extra rotary pot has been fitted. It does SOMETHING, but too subtly for my ears to tell you what. The jack socket has been moved to the base. The scratchplate is non-original. All the work looks to have been done neatly. I haven't opened it up to look at the wiring, but the sounds are all there. It runs off 2 9V batteries, and has all the great features like individual coils for the pickup poles, so you can adjust the volume for each string. And it's so pretty... Loads more pics if you want them. Edited August 11, 2009 by dangerboy
joegarcia Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 These are AMAZING basses IMO. I have the slightly less extreme shaped one (same neck and electronics) and it is fantastic. One of those I really don't ever think I'll sell. You can get some really unique sounds out of it as well as some seriously usable ones and it plays beautifully.
silverfoxnik Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Brilliantly quirky looking and all the more fabulous for it IMO! Haven't got the cash spare otherwise... Good luck with the sale!
wotnwhy Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 i would love to give you £500 for this. but i can't right now. if it's still kicking around after christmas i may have to look at my finances again
Geddys nose Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 One of the great bass designs IMO wish I had the money, Love seeing stuff like this on the for sale bit.
dangerboy Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 A touch of bump? Anyone started anticipating their post-Xmas budget yet? I have a black Peavey T-40 to shift if this doesn't sell, btw. PM for more details.
Dr.Dave Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Only ever played one once - stood there well smug waiting to trash it. Wrong! It really is a quality instrument with , as has been said , lots of very useable sounds. Really solid feel and a unique look. I hope someone has the bottle I lack and get's this fella gigging. Be different - not a dinosaur like me.
pushifier Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Hello Steve, I've just email'd you about the bass. Hope to hear your response. Cheers Diederick

dangerboy Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 This poor bass needs a new home. Won't you be its knight in shining armour?
Rbwyatt2001 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Can you tell me what the cost is in U.S. $$. and whether or not you can ship to U.S.? Robert <><
dangerboy Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Probably best I don't ship to the US. It'll cost a fortune!
Kev Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 any way you could do sound samples? interested in hearing it
Kev Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 btw this might be of interest http://www.ovationtribute.com/Catalogues/M...r%20Manual.html
dangerboy Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Last bump before I decide that I love this after all and convert it to passive...
dangerboy Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 BUMP. I don't want to sell, but must!
joegarcia Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 How would you go about converting it to passive then? Could it be done in a non destructive way dya reckon?

Then wire up the new scratchplate with new pots. That way returning the bass to stock would be easy.
