Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 That delay in being able to buy one is crazy, but not too dissimilar to the lengthy wait I had for the JMJ mustang and epiphone vintage pro thunderbird after they were originally announced. I suppose the initial stocks go to US customers first. Quote
Woodinblack Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 I think the delay makes them pointless advertising them at the moment. Might as well just say they aren't available until next year and build up interest then. 1 Quote
Low End Bee Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Cancelled my order too. Confirmed this morning that there are no Squier Mustangs until Feb/March. I do have a severe Jones for one though so I may go Vintera in Fiesta Red. Lollipops... Quote
Grantd Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I have switched my order to a Green Vintera instead, should turn up next month 🤞. Quote
BassApprentice Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 So that's 2 Vinteras sold which were originally going to be Squier sales - Could this be sharp marketing from Fender 😅😂 1 Quote

jrixn1 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) They snared me as well with this strategy I ordered a sunburst Vintera last week, arrived on Friday... heavier than I'd hoped (4kg) and more to the point, had some neck dive; but otherwise it played and sounded quite nice - but ultimately for whatever reason I didn't love it, so it's going back. Woodinblack Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Guess it looks like they are winning. I don't want one that much, the squier will do me if it turns up next year and our currency is worth anything! 2 Quote
Low End Bee Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I'm having a day off next Wednesday and I'm going to try all the Mustang varieties. No doubt I'll end up with the expensive option. 2 Quote
Grantd Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 My Vintera is due to land tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think. Quote

But once you get over the colour and the tuners it’s got a great feel and sound. Should be on the list as a consideration. Quote
Low End Bee Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 The JMJ is on the list. I far prefer a P to a J neck and I believe this is more of a hand filler. Quote

Grantd Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Well the Vintera arrived and it's awesome. I needed to change the strings to some Labella flats, and that really brought it to life. The weight is just right, I've not weighed it but it's comparable with my lightweight ACG basses. And it sits well too, rests more horizontally than my other basses but it's no bother, so no neck drive issues. 8 Quote

burno70 Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 That looks awesome! How do the pups sound? Aside from their shape, are they just P pups? Quote
Grantd Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 They are similar to P pups in my view, but I think they have more mids and perhaps not as controlled as P bass pickups, but great character. Quote

If it has the same neck as the JMJ I'm not surprised it wanted to be at least horizontal (the only mustang I've ever played that's happy with the neck at 45 degrees without assistance is my Mikey Way). The P type profile, thicker front to back and thicker headstock is going to make it have that tendency. Quote
Low End Bee Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Well. This has been an expensive day. 10 Quote

Seems nice. The neck is gloss, and not super chunky (front to back). Compared to the original "70s Classic Vibe" series (going on spec here - never owned one myself): the main reason I got it: walnut colour! (previously only available in black) body wood is nato (previously basswood); my cheap digital kitchen scales claim 3.76kg which is nice nut is slightly wider at 1.685" (previously 1.650") I like the new larger "TV" logo no tugbar or bridge cover saddles are no longer brass I think knobs changed from slightly rounder ones to now the proper flat-top ones. 6 Quote
Bigwan Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Has anybody had a chance to get their hands on one of these yet? What's the verdict? My eldest (8, but a big 8, wears age 14 clothes) is struggling with my selection of full scale basses and he doesn't like the look of the 2 Ibanez short scale offerings... That's my excuse to buy one of these for myself! Quote

No, I cancelled my order as it was taking too long, and now I think if I go for another short scale it will be one of the ibanez's. Seems they still aren't out. Quote

I might find out over the next 24-48 hours of my wanted ads aren't suitably fruitful... Quote
