danbowskill Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 What gets the most gas here? I have a nice P bass, but over many many years my main gas! And spending has always been focused on amps, cabs and effects.... Oi love trying them more tbh What direction do us bass addicts vere more towards 😄 ? Quote
uk_lefty Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I lust after basses more but go through amps and used to go through effects regularly. I guess basses are a much more emotive purchase for me that I agonise over for months, years, sometimes forever... I will one day have a Hofner, one day in the future!! And a sandberg 48, an 80s Aria, two jazz basses (again), something custom, a sixer... Amps just make them louder. Effects just disappoint. Quote
CamdenRob Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Definitely basses for me... I don’t use any effects and I’m pretty happy with my rig. I’d been through just about every type of bass before arriving at the Wals I have now. I haven’t bought a bass for the last couple of years but I still GAS for stuff. I trawl through pages and pages of gear most days... Not cause I’m searching for anything in particular, I just like basses 😊 Quote
CameronJ Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Used to mostly be effects (big time) but spent the best part of a year buying and selling furiously, had a huge board and then realised I was able to strip it down to a bare bones “most loved” selection. Only went through a couple of amps before arriving upon the world of FRFR and have been happy ever since. Now I only GAS for basses. All the time. Help me. 1 Quote
rOB Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Effects. I don't really need them for my current band but..... Oh and things to make gigging easier - light cabinets, gig bags, amp stands etc Quote
mr4stringz Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) Basses. I have a wish list for basses, amps, cabs and effects though. Difference is, for all but the first it’s for fulfilling a specific need (portability, tone, because I need x pedal for what I’m doing etc etc). With basses it’s more “I’ve always wanted one and I’ll regret it if I don’t.” I inevitably love what I’ve bought, don’t use it, move it on and continue with my tried and tested two I’ve had for years...(only exception to this thus far is my fairly recently purchased Mustang). Lozz196 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 It’s been basses and amps/cabs for me. For years I was trying to find the right Precision and Jazz, Precision was easier to find, only sorted the Jazz recently. And amps/cabs, well I was constantly changing them until I played through a few provided Ashdown rigs, at that point I knew which brand of amp & cab I was going to be happy with. Quote
Deedee Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 A bit of a 70/30 split for me between basses and cabs/amps (effects have never grabbed me tbh). I do find my gas is subsiding now though. After trying lots and realising what fits and what doesn’t, I’m a little more settled. Honest 😇 Quote
bazzbass Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 my GAS knows no bounds hehe I have 5 basses, 3 amps, 5 cabs, thousands of dollars worth of recording gear, fart oo many pedals, two wireless systems, especially as I now go cable into amp lol Quote
