Jono Bolton Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I was doing some filling and re-drilling of some screw holes, and managed to get some glue on the top of my bass. What's the best thing I can use to clean it off? Quote
yorks5stringer Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Lots of google suggestions, most suggest acetone, usual disclaimers apply! Quote
Muppet Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 A new razor blade (a proper one, not a Gillette Fusion Mach 3 Turbo GTI superlube) held flat to the surface does the trick. then a bit of polish. Wrap the unused edge in cardboard first! Quote
Hellzero Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Acetone is indeed super glue (cyanoacrylate) solvant, but beware with your finish. The razor blade is what I do first, then the acetone thing and the polishing. Quote

I'd tried nail polish remover before posting but it didn't work, but I gave it another go a few days ago and it did the trick. Quote
Christine Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Don't use acetone on a nitrocellulose finish, it's fine on poly but it will strip nitro as fast as it takes it off my nails Quote
FinnDave Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Try a model shop, ask for cyano de-bonder. Not sure what is in it, but it doesn't smell like acetone, and it does work. Quote
