visog Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Basschatters, Please can I get your recommendations to shimmer-up my shizzle. My start-point is Neunaber's Immerse v1/v2 which is the nuclear option but would like to hear other suggestions to explore too. Quote
Dapper Bandit Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 How much do you want to spend? You've got the Meris Mercury 7 that will give you shimmer, Eventide Space and Pitchfactor do it as well. Maybe one of the Korg multis? Shimmer is just reverb + blended octave up so anything that would allow you to stack those would give you the shimness. Quote
visog Posted August 2, 2019 Author Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) That is very helpful thank-you. Something to explore on my GT-1B multi-effects... Oh wait, what about polyphony for chords?... Tricky. Anyway, keep the suggestions coming... TC Electronics Florescence looming large in my research. Edited August 2, 2019 by visog Quote
Dapper Bandit Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 https://valhalladsp.com/2010/05/11/enolanois-shimmer-sound-how-it-is-made/ Bit of background on how shimmer works. A multi won't do the job as well as a dedicated effect but you can at least have a taste if you've already got a multi! Quote
cLepto-bass Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Mr Black Eterna has been my go to shimmer reverb pedal for years. I've actually got 2 of them but thinking of putting one for sale soon if that is of interest? Quote
Daz39 Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Shimverb by err Mooer? Or similar. £20 on ebay often. Quote

dannybuoy Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I've not heard a shimmer done as well as the Neunaber stuff. Sounds more complex and ethereal than most, without being shrill or having any glitchy artifacts. Bear in mind that they have quite a few pedals that can do shimmer, such as the Wet reverb, plus many of the pedals can be re-programmed to be a totally different pedal. So if you see their chorus cheap on eBay for example, you can hook it up to a computer and turn it into a reverb pedal. Quote
Owen Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I have the Neunaber Slate which means I can load any of their FXs into it. It goes without saying it shimmers like moonlight on a lake. It does lovely things on bowed Double Bass. But the ExP pedal extra bit enables you to have 4 different Neunaber pedal with 2 versions of each. I keep thinking of shifting it and going Mutli FX but it does make a lovely noise. The chorus is lush as well. Quote
fretmeister Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 The Digitech Polara has a "Halo" mode which is their shimmer and it's pretty good, but it certainly doesn't have a great deal of tweekable parameters. I mention it because it would probably help you rule it out if that effect is what you really need. Quote
BassThing Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I like the shimmer on the RV6, never tried it or heard it on bass though. Quote

Bass demo here: Some nice reverbs but the shimmer sounds a bit metallic? I aiming for a softer pad sound but I'm sensing you can only achieve that on the expensive units... Quote
