Pinball
Hi, I just got myself an Ibanex SRF705, which has copper Labella Tapewounds fitted (or at least I think that is what they are as 4 have a black winding and one has red). It has kind of thrown me as I quite like the sound, especially while muting but I also liked the stock strings on a one in PMT that I played a while back. With its strong piezzo sound I really don't have any experience or reference points. What are others using or would recommend for their SRFs? Your thoughts would be much appreciated
Pinball
Well as no one answered but just in case anyone is interested I have ordered a set of D'addario Chromes to compare them with the Labella Copper Tapewounds and go with my favourite. AndyTravis
Think they were d’adDario chromes from the factory, nice basses.
Woodinblack
I had chromes on mine but didn't like them so I went back to roundwounds
TheGreek
If you like the sound/feel of Tapewounds you could contact Status for a set of their black tapewounds, available in 0.40 and 0.45 gauge. As the Ibanez is a 2+2 headstock you can order a medium scale set - priced at less than £20 to your doorstep you'll be hard pushed to find a better deal on Tapewounds.

If it is a 705 then it is a 2+3
Pinball
Yep it's a 705. It will be interesting to experiment a bit. Thanks all
Pinball
Well an update is that my Amazon D'addario string order failed to arrive so I got myself a set of EB 045-130's and couldn't be happier. There was nothing wrong with the tapewounds on it but it just wasn't the sound that I wanted to achieve or had in my head when I bought the bass. To say that I'm happy is an understatement, I'm really blown away with this bass/string combo. Thanks for the advice.
