TRBboy
Hi folks, Just wondered if anyone has tried a kit/parts build, and how it turned out? I want something decent quality, was looking at guitarbuild.co.uk, but not sure if they're better than the budget kits or not (my impression is that they probably are). Thanks for any advice. 😊👍
Cuzzie
If you don’t mind waiting you pick up Fender parts second hand from various countries where they have been manufactured, mighty Mite are good, Allparts are good, status so great necks for Stingrays or fender pockets, depends whether you want the ease of an all in one kit, or just shop around. Then there is the cool part of electronics but that’s a whole other story
ahpook
I bought a jazz body from Guitarbuild - very good quality single-piece ash. Keep an eye out the their sales (I think you can sign up for updates) - they do some good deals. I've not tried any of their necks, but iirc they're all 43mm nuts which is a bit wide for me.
hooky_lowdown
Budget kits are utter rubbish, I'd save your money. @Cuzzie is right, mighty mite and allparts are the best around at the lower price point.
TRBboy
Thanks all, some good advice. For the price of the mighty mite/all parts bits though, it'd probably be easier /more cost effective to just buy a suitable donor /project bass and pimp it. uk_lefty
I think I remember Brandoni selling off parts for fender type instruments and also Eko and Vox. Depends what you want.
