Little Dragon Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I keep going back to Love Will Tear Us Apart and those droned notes can be tricky, for me anyway! Quote
grumpyguts Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Quote What is Hip....I have a go at it fairly regularly, don't appear to be making much progress. 2 Quote
TheGreek Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 "Babylon is burning" by The Ruts drives me bonkers - basically a blues scale but the tempo makes it a nightmare. TBH I do give up quite easily on this - love the tune but hate imitating those that inspire me... Quote
grandad Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Presently trying to work out a bass line for "The Nearness Of You". I seem to play something different each time, which is OK I guess as it sort of meanders. Quote
Machines Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Hardest is subjective. I find anything by Oasis to be technically simple but so drudgingly boring from a bass point of view I get lost in the mire. Yet give me some complex prog metal stuff and whilst harder to play, I remember it better. 1 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 A better question might be 'what's the hardest bassline you have learned/tried to learn?" There are gazillions of basslines I haven't a hope of playing. Quote
jazzyvee Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 The hardest tracks I have tried to learn to play are, Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, Beyond the seventh galaxy by return to forever and Slam the Clown by Alain Caron. I'm sure there are a array of bass lines beyond my scope but these are the hardest ones I've actually tried to learn. Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Probably Sound Chaser, I just learned the first bit... 1 Quote

Teebs Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Anything live where the singer / guitarist says "It's dead easy - it's a cover. It's in A minor - you'll pick it up!" And then starts playing in D major and shooting you evil looks... 2 Quote

TimR Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 The National Anthem, when the rest of the band couldn’t be persuaded that you were being serious about having to play it at the end of an RBL gig, and refused to even run through it once at practice... 1 Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I've been trying to learn some Ed Sheeran. It's surprisingly difficult. 2 Quote
