wishface Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Preferrably with tab (don't hate the player, hate the game) Thanks Quote
ambient Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 There’s one by Bach that’s pretty good, his cello pieces. I’m not sure it’s got tab though. Quote
philparker Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 That's a bit of an open question? However, perhaps the one @Ambient is referring to is Mel Bay's JS Bach for Bass by Josquin de Pres, which does have tab. It's one I own - it is reasonable and I have also used it for the double bass, but likewise, there's nothing to stop you trying any classical piece written for double bass (except that it doesn't have tab😕), I enjoy mixing it about! I also try double bass orchestral music for the bass guitar and vice versa. You may be restricted for classical music if you require tab? Quote
Rob MacKillop Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 There's also this: https://robmackillop.net/bass/ Any questions, just ask. 1 Quote
hubrad Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Are the Bottesini studies from his double bass method? I was put on that when learning DB under an orchestral teacher, and they're mostly really good tunes in their own right, usually with some identifiable direction re technique. Quote
Rob MacKillop Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Yes, they are, and yes, they are very tuneful. I love playing them. I might make a video of them all (the ones I've chosen for the book) soon. You can hear ALL the sound files for the book here: https://robmackillop.net/bass/ Cheers, Rob Quote
garyt Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Bach’s cello suites, although you’ll need a 5 string to get the range. Quote
