NikNik
I've been after one of these for years but something about this one says 'No!'. Possible dodgy varnish re-fin and that G string doesn't have much wiggle room before sliding off the neck. Hayman 5050
Shaggy
Never seen a pine-bodied semi acoustic Hayman before - if that is the original body then it must be a rare version. Very cool bass, but definitely a dodgy refin and in a pretty rough state altogether; way overpriced. IMHO.
NikNik
It's original, all right. Not many made.
Bassassin
Interesting! I'd never encountered the 5050 before this popped up a couple of months back. Certainly educational, for me. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/345325-this-looked-interesting/
NikNik
Oh, yeh, I remember that one, now that you mention it. I'd love the dark, two-tone sunburst job, but I wouldn't spunk the prices they go for on Dearverb. The one I've linked to needs a bit of TLC. But that G string is niggling me so I'm going to give it a by.
NikNik
If it looked like this, and had the F-holes, I'd be all over it like a tramp on chips!!

Nurgeloid
Hey! I bought the 5050. I am convinced it is original, no doubts at all. See photo from another website for AN other 5050 in same finish. its pretty playable - more playable than the other smashed up 5050 I have. BTW under the horrid blue metallic sprayjob on the smashed up 5050 body, the wood is the same gloss varnished 'pine' type look - probably obeche I would guess. Tried putting the serial number into the shergold website, no luck. That doesn't worry me as only two of my other Haymans actually register! (my 1010 and 2020 semi solid in rosewood). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fPIZqYtMbIk_2ekbZdgT06BmbJq58EDP/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xiaN_GLdq-oMcrstSoeaO_4AaU4dKRxb/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1id_xnwMDe3KpUq5850IlcIK0HoVEKHyn/view?usp=sharing
ash
Well done I would’ve bought it myself if I were nearer to him. You’ll have to put pictures up of your beaten up one.
