I'm afraid I have no idea, but I want to commend your use of the term "embuggerance".

I will find an opportunity to use that word myself today, and strongly recommend others to do likewise.

No experience of that specific model but the Bass Centre instrument I do own is extraordinary. A thousand pounds bass in five hundred pounds clothing.Ā

Love the analogy stewblack!

Amazingly, despite your avatar, I still believe every word you say about the Bass Centre instruments, used (live, at least) by Mark Bedford and otherĀ gliterati of the bass world, they must be as good as they say!

Genuinely sorry to hear of your woes, RobF, I hope you get some satisfaction (didn't mean to be flippant, but I couldn't resist it), please post some pics and thoughts on your new bass when you get it, they look very appealing

Ā

Good luckĀ

I imagine if you're knee high to a grasshopper and not too bold, it's not a bad bass. Just seemed very small and tonally wasn't very dynamic.Ā

6'6" of me, build like a brick shithouse made it look like a Axe Heaven bass model šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ I've seen Kala UBass' that are bigger lolĀ

Be careful, especially whenĀ leaving the ground vertically, ofĀ the place where you plug the cable in giving off sudden bright lights - apparently it can give you Gear Acquisition Syndrome three times.

Leaving the ground vertically? Sudden Bright Lights?Ā  You must have been playing "Rapture"....

And if they donā€™t do it in the colour you want, perhaps you could paint it black?

Appropriate for a Wyman - šŸŽ¼ ā€œ youā€™ve got to paint it, paint it, paint it, paint it blackā€ šŸ‘…

Well, i ordered one this morning.

i was all set to do it years ago but real life in the shape of a stroke took over.Ā
its taken 3 years to stop being a couch cabbage and to find the necessary Ā interest to get back to playing.Ā
i did find out that the +Ā£100 for a fretless neck is not for a second neck but for the guys at bass centre to defret Ā the one on the bass you order, so ive got a fretted one.Ā
never played a fretless apart from my baby bass, so i will leave that for the time being.

any other old buggers here who get the brain fart, chin up it can only get betterĀ

Blimey - you didnā€™t half take your time thinking about it šŸ¤£Ā

Ā

Ive played a couple of the Bass Centre ā€˜Bass collectionā€™ basses and theyā€™re really good, especially for the money, Iā€™m sure itā€™ll be excellentĀ

A fine Pratchett-ism if I ever heard one.

Ā

Never tried a BC Wyman bass but as @Paddy777Ā says their Jazz and P basses are very good for the price. Their Guy Pratt Betsy copy is excellent and Iā€™m seriously tempted by the new Neil Murray model.

I want to get the ā€œPowerhouseā€ as I want to try the Sims pickups - they sounds awesome, but yeh Iā€™ve never heard anything bad about the Bass Centreā€™s own brand ā€˜Bass Collectionā€™ basses. If you donā€™t mind used and

youā€™re after one then ā€˜Sell Us Your Guitarā€™ has some in:Ā https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk/shop-bass-guitarsĀ

Ā

Theyā€™ve got a ā€˜Speakeasy PJ4ā€™ for Ā£450 (similar to the Nanyo basses they used to do) if thatā€™s your thing. Theyā€™ve got a good deal on a Bass Collection ā€œPower Bassā€ (P Bass) for Ā£315Ā https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk/product-page/bass-collection-power-bass-fresh-cream-4-string-bass-guitar

Ā

and also a 4 string jazz bass the ā€˜Jive bassā€™ (basically the same as the Betsy but without the EMGā€™s) reduced to Ā£288 which is really good value for money IMOĀ https://www.sellusyourguitar.co.uk/product-page/bass-collection-jive-bass-china-white-electric-bass

Ā

Im not shilling for them or anything lol, but as theyā€™re being mentioned I thought Iā€™d post them up as theyā€™re great value for moneyĀ

Well im expecting it any day now but i must comment on the Bass Centre service. The day after i ordered it i phoned my card number in, to get a set of flats included in the box.

no problems they say, we always restring the basses before set up and sending them out, so we will restring with flats, no charge.

wow, wow and triple wow. That is service !Ā

Bass Centre been around for 40 odd years I think and theyā€™re pretty legendary as far as shops go and thatā€™s probably why, I canā€™t recall ever having heard a bad word about them tbf - they know what Bass players want and they know how to look after their customers šŸ‘Ā
