bassituation
Been fitting some Wilkinson p bass pickups into a bitsa. The way they were soldered, I've got the logo half nearest the neck. But just noticed that most images of these pickups have the logo half nearest the bridge. So does this matter? Are both halves the same on a split coil? hooky_lowdown
Yes, they're the same. It doesn't matter, unless you are aesthetically inclined.
bassituation
Great, thanks, no it was just in case one half has been voiced better for the E+A and the other half for the D+G.
threedaymonk
As far as the sound goes, they're the same, but there *is* (or should be) a difference between the two halves: they're wound in opposite directions to cancel hum. They should have opposite magnetic poles, too, so that they're in phase if used in a PJ (or PP!) configuration.

As long as the pickups are connected together the OP shouldn't need to worry about that.
Lozz196
The only difference I know of are the new Fender V ones, I’ve side ceramic one side alnico (no idea which, can’t remember) as each is meant to compliment the respective strings they sit under better.
