Maude Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Right then, enough of these lovely basses, let's have something pretty much universally hated. The kind of bass a lot of folks had as their first bass, and ceremoniously destroyed when they got their first 'proper' bass. A Kay KJB-1B. I was bored so bought this little survivor and treated it to a refinish inspired by those terrible plastic fan operated organs of the 70's. A lesson in just because you can, doesn't mean you should. All the above is in jest, this Kay is now a funky little bass that plays well (after some intense adjustments) and sounds surprisingly good. 11 Quote

Shaggy Posted February 8 Posted February 8 A not great pic of my old 1980's Gordon Smith Galaxy semi-acoustic bass; maple flat-topped body, ultra-slim maple neck, and twin narrow soapbar Jazz-type pickups (Kent Armstrongs, I think). A very simple but beautifully crafted bass; the action could be set next to nothing without buzzing. My main gigging bass for many years, wish I still had it...... 2 Quote
mikebass456 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Here's my Hayden Les Paul style bass. Got it from a place in Beverley in East Yorkshire before lockdown. Only cost about £230 brand new if I remember. Sounds great, and dont mind leaving it unattended at half time.......😉👍 1 Quote

Like a very angry stingray…but can do a nice modern clean hi-fi set of sounds too. Lives on a low slung strap now. Ace. 6 Quote
