Alun
Have a look at the close ups on http://www.freewebs.com/sbguitars/ - the finish is quite something, especially on the headstock. Nothing against 13 string basses but the string guages are laughable - I'm guessing the luthier isn't a bassist. Alun
kjb
That is quite horrible, imagine trying to hold the neck up while trying to play it. It's obviously only fretless because he doesn't know how to put frets in. I have the woodworking skills of a one legged gnat, but even I could make something that looks better than that, given the right materials and tools.......a blunt axe and that old fence panel that blew down in last weeks storm should do it. therealting
Jean Baudin, who is probably best known for his two-handed tapping of the Mario theme on 9, 11 and 12 string bass, currently has a 13-string bass on commission from Adler Guitars. A huge leap in quality from this rubbish though. You can see pictures of some of his monsters on http://www.jeanbaudin.com/. Dood
"MAKING THIS INSTRUMENT EXTREAMLY FLEXBLE AND PERFECT FOR THE MUSICIAN WHOLIKE'S THING'S JUST THIER OWN WAY." - Except for those who have shoulders, as this thing will be so top heavy it's likely to dislocate body parts! I reckon it'd be fun to play though, if it wasn't (imo) so damn ugly. 13 strings, yes great.. but a bit of time of the body design wouldnt have gone amiss he he he!!!
