Olympic White for me, with rosewood fretboard and either black or tort pick-guard. Ironic really given I don’t have a bass in that colour scheme as maple fretboards work better for my current needs.

I do love old Olympic White, like my ‘69 but the Custom Shop I’ve just picked up of Oly White over Candy Apple Red heavy relic 🤪😍

I favour black.  Either black bodies, bwb scratchplate and a maple neck and fretboard or the all black stealth look with no scratchplate, ebony board and painted headstock..

It depends on the bass but I am sucker for vintage white/cream. I don't like natural wood yet I wouldn't want my 4005 in anything else. I don't particularly like sunburst yet my Bex4, which I love the look of) is tobacco burst and I have a matching P and J in 3TSB. I don't really like black, it doesn't stand out on stage, yet I bought a Club bass in black as it looked so much better than the classic Hofner burst. I do really like retro pastel shades yet don't any.

Basically I have preferences but if it suits the bass then I like it.

I don't own one, but in the 70s Fender did walnut coloured finishes on some of their basses. I love that finish, particularly on a P Bass . Also Walnut finished Gibson SG guitar...yes. Also, I love translucent black as a finish, particularly on a Fender-type bass.

I like an oiled neck (EBMM style) - I dislike intensely gloss finishes on necks.

I like the idea of a nitro body but all my basses have poly finishes

Absolutely splendid, in a 1970s Britain kind of a way. It evokes watching The Sweeney, being savagely duffed-up by the school bullies (and being told "not to be such a bloody jessie" if you were stupid enough to tell  teachers/parents), winters of discontent and @Stub Mandrel's teenage diet. Ahh, happy days.

Ah, the good old days (not said in jest either).
