rhino
I was fortunate enough to see him on his recent PJB endorsement tour and it was an education. He's been one of my major influences since I was 15, and to see and hear him live, telling stories about his life, answering questions and then demonstrating how he played various parts on Steely Dan albums was an experience. When asked about what he thought of Steely Dan's music he replied " It will still be fresh a thousand years from now" He also said that he would have liked to have been a drummer, naming Bernard Purdie as his inspiration. He spoke highly of James Jamerson as a friend and influence and when asked what were his favourite "live" gigs over the years, replied "Two and a half years with Aretha Franklin's band, three years with King Curtis' band, and two years with Harry Belafonte's band" If he comes over to the Uk again, try not to miss him!
