IMO this constitutes material that will "corrupt and deprave". But it's a lovely looking bass, so feel free to peruse these pictures and add to your Status GAS!

A couple of these are taken by the previous owner, but they're nice pictures so I'll include them here! It feels so good to be back in the Status club, long may I stay here! :)

Merry Christmas!

I hear a lot of people really like Status necks on Stingrays. If I had a Stingray I'd go for one right away. Not just for the sonic benefits but because a graphite neck gives me a peace of mind that wood just doesn't!

I hear ya! I know from other previous BC posts how converted 'Rays have been improved. I may just have to add one to my GAS list. :)

That makes your a Status Matrix Energy then, IIRC. There was that, the Status Matrix Series I+II's and then the top of the line Matrix Empathy model.

For me it is definitely the case that you cannot beat a Status bass! I just keep coming back to them and this time I won't be letting it go! It has such a useable bridge pickup sound, perfect for burpy finger funk!

What a tune. Love that song, and the album! Nice bass Mark has there, a Matrix Empathy model! Had a great Christmas day slapping away on my Matrix and playing along with a few Killers tunes!

That actual bass now resides in Paris with Morgan Rousell! I had the four string version.

Well spotted bro - never noticed that! Might have been a special order job!

Sad day - my Series II (#204) has now got a new dad as of tonite - but he's one of the best - so the KB MkII fund is growing!!! Congrats to Dave Pickering (good to see you again m8).

Hi Nick!!

Got the SII back 'ome last night (the deal went down in a car park just off the A1 under the cover of darkness - very shady!!!!), gave her a quick 'road test' and have to say the bass is everything I was hoping for - classic status tone (not to mention punch) and playability - so I'm well happy!!! Am rehearsing with it 2nite so looking forward to that - good to see you too, hope 2009 is good to ya!

Cheers
Dave

I hate to bring this thread back from the dead but I'm not sure it was a passive one...the tone controls had centre detents and I'm sure you could boost with it...

...never took the backplate off though, so perhaps there was a battery nestled in there?
