80s Jap Fender P Bass

Might go look at one soon, anything I should look for? It has F+ 6 digits for the serial number, which works out okay. Should it have crafted in Japan on the base of the neck or anything like that?

F+6 should be 86/87 so it will more likely say Made In Japan rather than "crafted" (which I believe only applies to the stuff made after official exports stopped - although don't quote me on that) and it may say it on the headstock.
