EskimoBassist
Okay! So I've just received my very own Korg G5. It says that you can use an expression pedal with it. Anyone with experience: What does adding an expression pedal allow you to do with the effects? Is it worth getting one? Which expression pedal could I buy to use in conjunction with it, if it is worth the investment? Thanks, Rich
DanOwens
I'm also interested in people's choice of expression pedal. I'm after something that's hard-wearing and cheap. I currently use a volume pedal with an insert cable (stereo 1/4" -> 2 x mono 1/4" jacks) but it's reverse-action, which is WeIRd!! :s Dan
thisnameistaken
The G5 manual says "Be sure to use only the Korg VP-10 or KVP-001 volume pedals as the fc pedal". I've got the KVP-001 which works well enough, but to be honest I rarely use it. The annoying thing is the envelope still sweeps the filter a tiny bit even with an expression pedal plugged in and decay at zero. If you can find out the impedance of either of those two pedals you could probably find another pedal that works just as well. On the G5 the pedal sweeps the cut-off frequency of the filter. So it's a bit like a wah pedal. ahpook
if it's compatable with the korg, you could try an alesis F2 - i use mine with my ehx holy stain and it's fine. you can use it as a volume pedal at the same time too.
M4L666
Expression pedals let you do much more with effects. They can be a sweep control for anything that sounds sweepy- like a wah or (I think) a phaser or chorus or similar.
