Finally!

Photos of my latest aquisition - a Jon Shuker 5 string Jazz.

It was built to compliment my existing 4 string. A few notes:

-33" scale
-Delano pickups
-Jon Shuker EQ (three band with sweepable mids)
-Macassar fretboard with inlays
-Same flamed maple top as used on my original 4! (he put it to one side)
-Red LEDs

Some pics!

And with the original 4

-Nordstrand Fatstacks pickups
-ShukerEQ
-Blue LEDs
-34" scale
-Neck built to my 75 fender jazz
-Coil tap

I'm one very happy bassist!

Definitely.. really adds to what is already a very unique looking bass!

Like dub_junkie, I'm curious about the low B on the 33" scale as well Mike - how does it compare to longer scale 5 strings?

out of curiosity can I ask what made you choose a 33'' scale length on a 5 and how does the B string feel/sound?.[/quote]

Thanks for all the comments guys. Gigged with it on New Years Eve and it sounded great. I can tell moving from 33" to 34", which I'm surprised by!

I chose 33" as I'm cursed with quite small hands. Players like Matt Garrison and Janek Gwizdala have had success with shorter scale lengths yet retaining a low B. It really is in the luthier, I think. My B sounds great, nice tension. If anyone wants to try it in Essex, you're more than welcome!
