Cestrian Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I’m just about to begin a HNC at this music school. Just wondering if anyone has any inside information, useful tips etc? Quote
lewiswhitebass Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 I was there from 2011-2015. I enjoyed it on the whole but like any degree it had it's challenges along the way. Happy to answer any questions for you mate couple of tips. 1. Reading Reading Reading Reading 2. If you haven't got Sibelius yet make sure you get a copy and get good at it because you will be using it A LOT. 3. Network as much as you can. My go to guitar player is a guy who I went to ICMP with and he's getting gigs years later. Let me know how you get on Quote
ambient Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 It’s a fabulous place. I graduated from their BMus course in 2015. It’s hard work. I auditioned at several places, I’ve also spoken to people who studied elsewhere, I’d say that of the various places that do similar courses, ICMP’s is the most demanding. I’m honoured to feature on their website. https://www.icmp.ac.uk/about-icmp/student-successes/kevin-buckland Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions. Quote
Cestrian Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Thanks guys. I really appreciate your advice. First day today. Early days but I have to say, so far the teaching has been outstanding. Quote

Cestrian Posted October 1, 2019 Author Posted October 1, 2019 Not heard his name mentioned as yet. All the staff seem to be working professionals so I imagine there’s quite a turnover. Quote
Bassalarky Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Get to know the Tutors and absorb every ounce of knowledge and experience they have. That's why they're there. I taught Music Technology at Bristol College for many years and was always surprised how many students don't do this. Quote
